As a Licensed Professional Counselor/Supervisor (LPC-S), licensed by the Texas State Board of Professional Counselors, she completed a Masters degree in counseling and had over 3,000 hours of supervised clinical experience. Plus, she is a National Certified Counselor. In addition, She is Licensed Specialist in School Psychology (LSSP). Beverly is licensed by the Texas State Board of Examiners of Psychologists, which requires that she completed over 1,200 hours of internship supervision.
She earned a Master of Arts in Psychology at Houston Baptist University, College of Education and Behavioral Sciences, Houston, Texas. Beverly majored in Counseling while additionally pursuing specialties in School Psychology and Play Therapy. She received her Bachelor of Science degree in Education while additionally pursuing a specialty in Special Education from the University of Alabama, Tuscaloosa, Alabama in 1978. Beverly currently holds Life Certification with the Texas State Board for Educators in the following areas: Elementary Self-Contained (Grades 1-8); Generic Special Education (PK-12); Seriously Emotionally Disturbed/Autistic (Grades PK-12); Generic Special Education (Grades PK-12); and Standard Endorsements for English as a Second Language (Grades PK-12) and Gifted and Talented (Grades PK-12).
As a specialist in childhood issues, Beverly has been helping children feel great about themselves and become self-motivated to maximize their potential for more than 20 years. She takes an active role in meeting and exceeding the standards of her profession. Beverly enjoys being able to provide a high level of service in a very personal way. Her goal is to always have the time available to treat people as individuals, with trusting relationships being a top priority. More importantly, she is always available to answer your questions and keep you updated on treatment progress.
Registered as a Play Therapist/Supervisor (RPT-S) by the Association of Play Therapy, she completed over 150 hours of play therapy specific coursework, and completed a rigorous supervision of 500 hours of direct play therapy experience. She is currently in private practice as a psychotherapist serving Harris, Montgomery and Ft. Bend counties. Previously, she worked as a Licensed Specialist in School Psychology with multiple metropolitan independent school districts. Her specialty interests in her private practice include working in the areas of women’s issues, play therapy, parent coaching/filial therapy, positive behavior management, stress or anxiety, trauma, grief/loss issues, executive functioning skills, and attachment disruptions. As a school psychologist she provided diagnostic assessment and comprehensive individual evaluations, counseling as a related service, and proactive “Response to Intervention” strategies for students in school districts to help them be successful. To keep abreast of the latest research based therapeutic interventions she frequently attends continuing education seminars. As a specialist in adult issues, Beverly holds a Licensed Professional Counselor/Supervisor (LPC-S ) license, and has been working with women helping them manage stress and anxiety, work through grief, build self-esteem, and improve their relationships. She is certified and accredited by the Center for Anger Resolution having met the criteria to counsel violent men, women and children. Additionally, as a PREPARE/ENRICH Marital Facilitator and a Certified Christian Counselor she helps couples prepare for marriage, build and maintain a happy marriage despite challenges they may face. She works with couples to address strengths and growth areas including: communication, conflict resolution, financial management, relationship roles, marriage expectations, children and parenting, and how to achieve life’s goals together. Marriage is an amazing journey and it truly helps to have a guide. Her goal is to always treat people as individuals while building a trusting relationship, making time available to answer questions keeping you updated on treatment progress and provide a high level of service in a very personal way.
